Makeup review

My daily makeup routine focuses on my skin; glowing and fresh looking skin is my goal. My goal is also to achieve this quickly and minimally. My routine usually consists of primer, cc cream, concealer, and powder to seal. I contour with a powder bronzer and then apply highlighter for that ideal glow. Of course, I finalize with a lipstick of choice. I know this sounds like a lot of steps, but since I have this routine so on point it only takes me about 5 minutes (if I’m uninterrupted by my energetic toddler). A few weeks ago, Influenster Canada sent me an email about testing out a new Maybelline product, and as I am a makeup snob who doesn’t try as many drug store beauty brands as I should, I jumped at the chance.

Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Powder

Makeup review

When I responded  to the email from Influenster, I was truly crossing my fingers in hopes that the makeup product would match my skin. Truth be told, one of my biggest pet peeves about the industry is that so many samples are targeted at fair skin. However, when I received this product I was surprised that it was fairly close to my skin tone, it would have been even more ideal if I had not just gotten a major tan during my recent trip to Peru.

Makeup review

I was quite excited to try the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Powder; therefore the next day I opened it up and opted to use my Morphe M438 brush as I wasn’t too crazy about using the sponge included. I know the Morphe M438 brush isn’t for powder, however I wanted to use the point of the brush to really get the powder into every corner of my face, from my nose to my hairline. I was quite impressed with the coverage of this product and I also noticed it gave my skin a clean canvas and matte look. The shade I had, Natural Beige, was slightly too cool for my skin tone, however it didn’t look awful. I found that after adding in bronzer to contour it evened out my overall skin tone and look.

Results

I really liked the results. I would definitely purchase this product if I was looking for a drugstore brand powder to seal. If the foundation is anything as great as this product, I would get it too. Below is an up-close selfie on the results. My skin looks flawless!

Natural light is my favourite when it comes to pictures, so here is a selfie to showcase my look:

There is no filter at all in either of these photos, nor have they been edited (that’s not my look!). It’s evident that this product truly made a positive impact on my skin, and I reached that flawless glow that I seek every time I apply makeup. I would recommend you give it a try, as I am quite impressed with the results.
