In case you didn’t know, I LOVE movies. I love comedies, dramas, international and so many more genres. When my husband and I were at the dating stage, I had never collected so many Cineplex Scene points, as it was our go-to date choice. Even today, we tend to go to the movies on our date night as I have a major thing for movie theatre popcorn too. I always look forward to seeing the new trailer, and 2017 is no different. It’s only January and I’ve already compiled a list of must-see movies to be released in the next few months.
2017 Movie Releases
I’ve decided to create a list of my most anticipated 2017 movie releases, which I promise to update as new movie trailers become released. All movies will be released this year, so you’re more than welcome to check back for updates. Also, keep in mind that the list below is organized from January to December (because I’m crazy organized like that!)
xXx: Return of Sander Cage
When the first xXx movie came out I didn’t really care for it, however I’m pretty psyched to see this one. I think this is a great cast, from Vin Diesel to Ruby Rose. Also, I love a good action movie.I think it goes back to my dad constantly watching Steven Seagal movies when I was a kid.
In theatres: January 20
You’re Killing Me Susana
I LOVE Gael Garcia Bernal, but I have to say it is weird seeing him without his sidekick, Diego Luna. I became a fan of these two way back when they did “Y Tu Mama Tambien”, then I followed them through “Rudo Y Cursi” all the way to present day. It’s no surprise I’m excited to see this movie, because of my love for the actor and for my appreciation to Hispanic representation in movies. However, the story seems pretty great too!
In theatres: February 2017
Everybody Loves Somebody
I didn’t mean for back to back Spanish language movie releases in this list, but it’s just how it happened. I recently discovered this actress, Karla Souza, and I really like her. I saw her a few weeks ago in “Que Culpa Tiene El Niño” and I highly recommend it (Currently on Netflix). Of course, you probably know her best for her role in “How To Get Away With Murder”.
In theatres: February 17
Now this movie looks cool! Not only because it includes a badass little girl, but because it is so interesting to see a next era of X-Men beyond the comics vibe.
In theaters: March 1
Fast & Furious 8 | #F8
So, it;s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Fast & Furious franchise, from the actors to the cars and the fact that I’ve followed it since the very first movie. To this day I want a Honda S2000 just like Suki’s. I’m loyal to the franchise and will keep watching the movies regardless, so it’s no surprise that I’m super excited to see this one.
In theatres: April 2017
Baywatch | #BeingBaywatch
I remember watching Baywatch as a kid; being glued to the TV as ‘Mitch Buchannon’ ran across the sand and into the water to save the drowning victim. The show was a staple of my childhood so of course I’m going to support this new movie. It definitely seems that there is more action to this movie than the series, but I’m looking forward to see how it turns out.
In theaters: May 2017
I CANNOT WAIT for this movie. I love the East LA Chicano presence in this upcoming film, and love even more that Eva Longoria will be a part of it.
In theaters: May 12
Wonder Woman | #Wonderwoman
It seems that the releases in 2017 are all about my childhood. I used to pretend to be Wonder Woman when I ran, as I clipped my boots before running so I could be super fast like her. When I first heard that this movie was coming out I was psyched. I must admit, I’m not too crazy about this actress being cast for the movie, however I do think shes done a good job. Gal Gadot was brilliant in Fast & Furious and she is a great actress, however (in my opinion) she;s missing that strong and thick Wonder Woman look we all love.
In theaters: June 2017
