It’s no secret I LOVE food. But what’s my favourite unofficial food group? Yes, pasta. I love the versatility of pasta; you can have it in soup, hot, cold, glutten-free, etc. Anything and everything is possible with pasta, there is nothing that does not go well with pasta. Of course, what goes best with pasta is a divine glass of wine. In celebration of World Pasta Day, I’m sharing some of my favourite pasta recipes.
World Pasta Day
Today is one of my favourite days of the year. A day where we celebrate one of my favourite food items in the world; pasta. When I was little my favourite dish was “Tallarines Verdes“, and today I continue to love it. I brings me memories of my great-grandmother and how she would spoil me by serving me two giant plates; even when everyone warned that I would not finish it all. It;s these little memories that come with food, and pasta in particular, that stay close to my heart. Today, in celebration of World Pasta Day, I’m sharing some of my favourites recipes. I hope they make you feel inspired for tonight’s dinner.
Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta
This pasta recipe is one of my favourites, and a frequent dish at home. My husband and I DIE for this dish and usually make it a lay Sunday indulgence. We discovered the dish at one of my favourite restaurants and we had to track down the recipe online to make this at home, and voila! The Food Network’s Gina’s Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta is a family favourite!
Sunday Spaghetti and Meatballs
I’m not Italian, so I don’t have a nonna to make me classic spaghetti and meatballs on Sundays. But Rachael Ray’s Sunday Spaghetti and Meatballs recipe brings it pretty close to an Italian home! This is a little slice of Italian comfort food heaven. So get out your wooden spoon and enjoy!
Classic One Pot Pasta
My husband recently discovered one pot pastas and he has become the master of them. For beginners like me, this is a great start! Fresh, delicious and so incredibly easy. When you have a toddler hanging off your leg as you try to make dinner The Social’s Classic One Pot Pasta is a go-to recipe, and it keeps our tummies happy and full.
Classic Spaghetti Carbonara
Did somebody say pancetta? Yes, please! This recipe brings us back to pasta basics with its simplicity and taste. Such little ingredients for such a delicious dish. If you have family coming over last minute, this Classic Spaghetti Carbonara is perfect for a quick turn-around and plenty of “oohs” and “aahs”.
Basil Pesto Pasta
One of the things I love most about Italian cooking. and many of the pasta recipes, is the simplicity of the ingredients that blend together for big taste. In my opinion, Basil Pesto Pasta is the epitome of that. When it comes to this dish, it’s not about the quantity but the quality of the ingredients; the basil grown in your garden, or the fine olive oil, and the fresh parmesan. Oh, how these terms make me happy!
