I was recently sent a Biore VoxBox by my friends at Influenster Canada. As always, I was very excited to receive one, but this one was extra special. I was particularly looking forward to this as I had experienced a few skin changes recently from starting to wear make-up on the daily again. Let’s just say my skin was not at its best!
I am very careful with the skin care products I use because I have very sensitive skin. I either break out in a rash or erupt with pimples if a product doesn’t agree with my skin. I was very careful with this product in particular as I have gotten a rash in the past from the baking soda in natural deodorant; therefore I did a spot treatment before trying it out. I usually do this by applying a bit of the product like I normally would on either the inside of my wrist or by my elbow. I got no negative results from the spot test, so we were good to go!
My Skin Situation
Before using this product, my skin has a few scars from recent pimples, as well as a few “live ones”. As mentioned, I have returned back to work, after being on maternity leave for a year (which was also a year mostly make-up free), so I was experiencing a few break-outs not only from the natural stress of the change but also from wearing make-up on the daily again. I usually get a few spots around PMS week too, so that didn’t help my situation either!
Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Power
I received two products in the Biore VoxBox, which included the Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and the Baking Soda Scrub. Here’s how I used them:
Baking Soda Pore Cleanser
This cleanser deep cleans pores and exfoliates them. The best part is that it exfoliates with the baking soda bits, rather than the controversial beads we’re used to in many exfoliating products.
I used one pump each time I washed my face, in the morning, and it felt my skin feeling super soft and clean each time. I let my skin rest the first few times, without applying anything else right away, to get a sense of how the product really felt on my face. I loved it!
I was very happy to know that this cleanser is hypoallergenic and made for combination skin, which is exactly what I have. You can find out more here.
Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub
Use this baby for a deep clean and to gently exfoliate. I used this cleansing scrub at night to really scrub my makeup away. I enjoy a deep clean after a long day of work with makeup on my face.
Truth be told, I was a little nervous about using this because of my baking soda reaction I mentioned, but no reactions here! I was very happy about that!
I poured a dime size amount on my palm, added a little drip of water to get the foaming process going, and then washed my face. I focused on my nose, cheeks and forehead to get a true squeaky clean result. You can find more here.
I’m really happy with these products! Not in the “I’m happy but going back to the one I was using before”, but happy as in I’m going to continue using both the Biore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser and the Biore Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub.
I was really happy with the way both products made my skin feels; clean, polished and fresh. I took this picture on the left after my end of the day face wash and my skin genuinely looks happy!
I should mention that the first time I used the Cleansing Scrub felt a tad drying on my skin, but once I applied my moisturizer the dryness was gone. Overall, it did not make my skin dry at all.
Keep in mind, I used these products for a little over a week before writing this review to allow me to really get a sense of the response of this product on my skin. I definitely would recommend trying out these products. If you do, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Disclaimer: I received the products in the Biore VoxBox complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. The opinions in this post are my own based on my experience with these products.
